Gale Taff, age 78, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2021 after a brief period of declining health. Gale was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Macon and Beatrice (Hayes) Fortenberry on October 20, 1942 in Macon, Georgia. She was a member of Hiawassee United Methodist Church. Gale ministered to people by sending hand written cards in the mail to lift people up, it could be for their birthday, get-well or any occasion. For fifty-eight years Gale was a devoted wife, mother and wonderful homemaker, taking care of her husband and two daughters. She was very involved with her girls, going to their school activities when they were young and remaining supportive throughout their life. She also enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers, and was an exceptionally good cook. Her husband recalls her love for shopping as one of her favorite hobbies as well. She is preceded in death by her above mentioned parents and daughter Carrie Ellen Taff. Mrs. Gale leaves behind her husband Jimmy Taff; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Rickey Mathis and Carla and Jeff Vance; granddaughters, Hannah and husband Drew Gladfelter and Heather Mathis; great grandchildren, Brynn and Briggs Gladfelter; brother, Sam Fortenberry along with a host of extended family, church family and friends. At Gale's wishes there will be no services but happy memories of her kind and generous heart. Banister-Cooper Funeral Home is honored to care for Mrs. Taff.
