Mrs. Addie Estelle Sanders, age 84, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 following an extended illness. Estelle was born on July 15, 1936 to the late Fairl and Ruby (Woods) Shook in Hiawassee. She loved to quilt but she also spent her time camping and fishing, however trout fishing was her favorite. She was proud of her home that her late husband provided for her and she enjoyed spending time there tending to her flower garden and making the house a home for her family. Estelle was a sweet soul and was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She fiercely loved her family and was a devoted wife to her husband Cecil for 63 years. She was also an extremely good cook according to her family. Estelle was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Estelle was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil C. Sanders Jr. and brothers, Alex Shook and Jr. Shook. She is survived by three children and spouses; Marty (Jane), Mitchell (Debra), Melanie Messer (Jim); five grandchildren, Katie Sanders Cannon (Steven), Cecil Sanders (Anne), Jonathan Messer (Brittany), Adam Sanders (Stephanie), and Ethan Sanders; five great-grandchildren, Cruz, Colt, Lilly, Charlie and Scarlet; brothers, Truett and Michael Shook; sisters, Margie Nicholson, Brenda Baker, Margaret Shook and Sandy Foster; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Dye and Pastor Wade Lott officiating. Piano music provided by Jonathan Coppins. Music provided by Josie Bradley and Danny Byers. 

Interment will follow the service at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers; Tyler Baker, Jonathan Coppins, Tim Nicholson, Bryce Shook, Tony Shook and Trenton Whidden. 

The family will be accepting flowers but donations can also be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Special thanks to Homestead Hospice, Mountain Home Health, Dr. Tracy Edwards, Chatuge Regional Hospital, Dr. Aaron Joel Schueneman and the Staff at Northside Cancer Institute. Please wear a mask and social distance when attending the services per the family’s request.
