Simone Elise Charlotte Nicholson

Mrs. Simone Elise Charlotte Brun Nicholson, age 87 of Hiawassee, GA passed awau on January 21, 2012. Simone was born in Draguignan, France on February 26, 1924 to Sylvain and Jeanne Marie (Sage) Brun. She met Harold Nicholson, her husband of sixty-four years during WWII in Southern France. It was love at first sight and he brought her home to Hiawassee, GA as his new bride. The were blessed with six children. Simone was a devoted and loving wife and mother. God and her family were the most important things to her. She loved reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing and stamp collecting. She loved gardening with her loving husband Harold. She especially loved entertaining friends in her home and serving her elegant French cuisine.
Simone was a member of St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church. Early in her adult life she obtained a teaching certificate in France. Upon her arrival in the United States, she earned her LPN degree. She gained more teaching credentials at Oglethorpe University in 1966. She taught French in fulton County School System and retired in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father Jeanne Marie and Sylvain Brun and also by her firstborn daughter, Jeanne Marie Nicholson (June 16, 1948-June 16, 1948), and her daughter-in-law, Beverly Nicholson.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Nicholson; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Mike Clinton, Patricia and Ed Williams, Diana and Bob Crowder; son and girlfriend, Patrick Nicholson and Teresa Colditz; son and daughter-law-law, Sylvain and Diane Nicholson.
She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon her passing over thirty-five family members were ini attendance to share this remarkable womans final moments. The family would like to thank Regency Hospice of Hiawassee, GA in assisting in her peaceful passing. Visitation was held on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 6-9 PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM from St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Joseph Liem Nguyen officiating. Pallbearers were: Chris Clinton, Jonathan Clinton, Josh Crowder, Joshua Clinton, Isaac Clinton and Edward Williams. Interment was in Burch cemetery following the Mass. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
