Shirl Linda Green, 64, passed away on May 26, 2022, due to diabetes complications. Shirl has resided in Hiawassee, Georgia for the past three and a half years. She has also lived in Illinois and Florida.
Shirl was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 18th, 1957 to Richard Dwyer and Cynthia Evelyn (Kuecker) Green. Survived by sisters; Sherri L. (Green) Peterson and (former spouse) Douglas Raymond Peterson, Janet M. (Green) Riley and husband James R. Riley Jr. Brother; Steven Richard Green and (former spouse) Catherine M. O’Connell (Green). Nephews; Neil Dwyer Green, Brendan Michael Green, and Gavin James Green. Nieces; Christina Maree (Peterson) Shine and husband Christopher A. Shine, Kimberly Ann (Peterson) Carr (predeceased) and husband Paul T. Carr (predeceased). Great-Nieces; Grace Catherine Carr and Anna Christina Carr. Her loving fur babies; dogs, Snow, Stormie, Bailey, and cat, Raindrop.
Shirl was a graduate of New Trier High School Winnetka, Illinois in 1974/75. Attended University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.
Shirl’s careers included an eclectic mix of interests throughout her working life. In her early years she worked for veterinarian hospitals. Later becoming a business owner creating Array of Elegance Interiors, decorating homes for Chicago’s North Shore. She also loved traveling domestically and to Europe; Italy holding a very special place in her heart. In Shirl’s later years, she spent her time caring for pets of all sizes, surrounding herself with fur babies she so dearly loved.
Shirl’s family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton, Georgia. Additional appreciation goes to Shirl’s local neighbors and friends who have gone above and beyond to care for her pets and house, during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life and ashes spreading memorials will take place in Georgia, Florida and Illinois. Dates and venue to be announced.
In remembrance, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS, ASPCA, local Humane Society, or the Diabetes Foundation.
