Sharon Ditmore Gray went home to be with Jesus on February 21, 2021. Sharon was born August 31, 1962, in Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Helen Ditmore; her husband, James Gray; step-son, Air Force Major Walter David Gray; step-son Ronnie Gray; and brother, David Ditmore. She is survived by her daughter, Amber (Contrel) Neal; grandchildren, Judah Neal, Noah Neal, Micah Neal, Eden Grace Neal, Owen Gray, Cooper Gray, Nyah Gray, Garrett Gray, and Ava Gray; two brothers, Mike (Karen) Ditmore and Richard Ditmore; and several nieces and nephews. Following the death of her beloved husband James in May 2018, Sharon returned to her hometown in Hiawassee, GA, and was thrilled to spend time with her loving aunts, Kathleen Cole, Louise Anderson, and Ruth Matheson, as well as many other family members and longtime friends. Her family would like to express special appreciation and thanks for the love and care given to her in these last few years by her dear friend, Lisa Taylor. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church in 2019 and greatly enjoyed getting to know her church family. Sharon was an avid supporter of the ASPCA and the Wounded Warrior Project. She enjoyed reading, cooking, crafting, and caring for her devoted companion, her rescue dog, Bree. She worked for many years in the insurance business and was a wonderful friend to those who knew her, but her most cherished role was that of “Nana” to her grandchildren. Her family is grateful to know that Sharon is at peace and full of joy in the presence of her Lord. Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the path of life, in Your Presence there is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.”
