Roy Eugene Porter

Mr. Roy Eugene Porter, age 72, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on September 7, 2015 following an extended illness. He was born on June 3, 1943 in Alamance, NC to the late Frank Pembleton and Mamie (Russell) Porter. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Aletha Porter, of Hiawassee, GA, children; Mr. Donald Eugene Porter of Chattanooga, TN, Mr. & Mrs. Ricky Lee Porter of Pelham, AL, Mr. & Mrs Michael Gene Porter of Burlington, NC, Mr. & Mrs. Roy Eugene Porter Jr.  of Conyers, GA, Mr. & Mrs Anthony Glenn Porter of Hiawassee, GA, Mr. Sandy Aaron Porter of Lula, GA, Mr. & Mrs. James Michael Willard of Hiawassee, GA, Ms. Rebecca Lynn Willard of Toccoa, GA; brothers and sisters, Ruth Lucas of NC, Wade (Kicky) Porter of NC, Pete Porter of NC, Jimmy Porter of NC, Roger Porter of FL, Larry Porter of FL, JoAnne West of NC, Doug Porter of NC, Rebecca Van Horn of FL; 26 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his daughter Melinda Marie Porter; brothers and sisters, Janey Birchett, Henry Porter, Bonnie Stephens and Kathy Watts. The family received friends from 6-8 PM from the chapel at Banister Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Services were held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Cantrell officiating. Interment followed at Laurel Hills Memory Gardens. Music was provided by Rebecca Willard. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
