Roger Hal Gordon

Mr. Roger Hal Gordon, age 85, of Stone Mountain, Ga passed away on June 30, 2017 at Sunrise Senior Living. Roger was born on November 16, 1931 in Hiawassee, Georgia to the late Lee and Paralee Gordon. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Gordon. Roger attended Young Harris Academy, Victorian 7th grade and Young Harris College. He worked for AT&T for 41 years and was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Mr. Gordon loved country music, traveling with his wife, boat rides, fishing and hunting. He was a beloved husband, hard worker, good father and provider. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Genell Gordon; sons and daughters-in-law, James Hal and Brenda Joy Gordon and Joe Michael and Judy Ann Gordon; daughter and son-in-law, Jody Marie and Ted Andrew Whitlock; grandchildren and pallbearers, Jessica Marie Whitlock, Brandon Christopher Hal Gordon, Nicholas Ray Tate, Andrew Gordon Whitlock, Larry Ashton Whitlock, Shawn Michael Gordon, Ryan Lee Gordon, and Timothy Joseph Gordon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3:00 PM also from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Music will be provided by daughter-in-law Brenda Joy Gordon and Ryan Wilson. Interment will follow in the Choestoe Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
