Pope Thomas Wood

Mr. Pope Thomas Wood, age 86, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on August 11, 2013 following a sudden illness. He was born to the late Bob and Annie (Foster) Wood on February 14, 1926 in Hiawassee, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Nichols Wood and daughter, Becky Cheeks. He is survived by one daughter, Denise Williams, of Hiawassee, GA; two sons, Phillip Wood, of Hiawassee, GA and Dwight Wood, of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. Music was provided by Stanley and Karen Wood.  Interment was in Lower Hightower Baptist Church. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
