Pat Nicholson

Mrs. Patsy Ruth Nicholson, age 80, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 19, 1943 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert and Willie Mae Young in Blairsville, Georgia. She was a lifetime member of Lower Bell Creek Baptist Church. While she was given the name Patsy by her parents she collected many different names throughout her life; she was lovingly called "Red" by her son Ken, Nannie by her great-grandboys, and Granny Pat by her Freds' and Ingles families. She never met a stranger and could talk for hours about her family. Pat said for many years that she wanted to live long enough to see her great-grandboys graduate high school and that was met in spring of 2023 along with her eightieth birthday that many friends and family came to enjoy with her. 

 

Pat is preceded in death by her above mentioned parents; husband, Doug Nicholson; daughter, Sandy Annette Nicholson; and brothers, Jerry and TommyJoe Young. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Freda Nicholson; granddaughter and husband, Ciji and Damon Crowder; great-grandsons, Kendall Henderson, Keenan Henderson and Collin Crowder; along with a host of extended family and friends. 

 

No matter what name Patsy was known by, Pat, Red or Granny Pat, all could agree she was a little stubborn, precious and loving, but she also did things "Her Way.” Even in her passing she did things her way, slipping quietly away as the house grew still from the rumbling of the day. The family would like to thank Regency Hospice for going above and beyond in caring for Pat and her family, and our amazing community for all the thoughts, prayers, and love shown through this time of sorrow. Pat will be deeply missed!

Funeral: Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 2:00PM at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Kelly Gunter officiating.
