SUBJECT: OBIT FOR: MRS OPAL (TURPIN) CHASTAIN
Mrs. Opal (Turpin) Chastain, age 82 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on Friday, April 06, 2012 following a brief illness. She was born to the late William and Bonnie (Berrong) Turpin on July 25, 1929 in Hiawassee, GA. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She and Mr. Joseph Ray Chastain were married on Christmas Day, 1950.  She is survived by her husband, Joe Chastain, of Hiawassee, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Larry Swanson, of Hiawassee, GA; son and daughter-in-law, William Ray and Amy Chastain, of Hiawassee, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Maona Turpin, of Hiawassee, GA; four grandchildren, Olivia and Tom Jern, of Jesup, GA; blake and Brittney Chastain, of Hiawassee, GA, Brooke and Bria Chastain, both of Hiawassee, GA and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held on Monday April 08, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Forrester officiating. Music was provided by Bobby Taylor, Billy Nicholson and Becky Underwood. Pallbearers were: Joel Turpin, Jerry Turpin, Rodney Underwood, Bruce Underwood, Mike Berrong and Billy Denton. Honorary pallbearers were: Gary Berrong and Bud Denton. Interment was in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
