Muriel Moody, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025 at home. Born on March 30, 1928, in the Hiawassee River community of Towns County, Muriel was the beloved daughter of the late Andrew Jackson (Jack) Noblet and Della Kastner Noblet. As the eldest daughter in a large and loving family, she began caring for her younger siblings at an early age - a role she embraced with grace and devotion throughout her life.
She spent most of her years in Towns County, where she was a familiar and friendly face to many. She worked for several years at Hiawassee Hardware, where her warmth and work ethic left a lasting impression. Outside of work, she found joy in simple pleasures - reading, knitting, and tending to her garden.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Moody; son, Bradley Earl Moody; grandson, Brent Moody; and her siblings Alvin Noblet, Earl Noblet, Ernest Noblet, Dorothy (Dot) Moore, Betty Nicholson, Raymond Noblet, and Rachel Eller.
Muriel is lovingly remembered by her son Jeffery Moody and his husband Vedam Clementi, sons David Moody (Mahala), and Jerry Eller (Shirley); her sister Lea Drane and brother Henry Noblet; her grandchildren Alicia Rogers (David) and Derrick Moody (Lori); granddaughter-in-law Ann Moody; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Muriel’s legacy of love, strength, and quiet kindness lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
