Mary Ruth Sampson

Mary Ruth Sampson, age 81 of Young Harris, GA, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 after a period of declining health. She was born to the late Rev. Omar and Ester (Gibson) Sparks on July 10, 1933. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Larry Smith of Young Harris, GA, Amy Sampson of Young Harris, GA and Bobby Smith of Young Harris, GA; sister, Virginia Rogers Stephens of Ohio; grandchildren, Gregory Smith, Troy Smith, Tracy Smith, Audrey Mitchell and Emily Brown; three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Sampson; daughter, Peggy Smith; brothers, Edwin Sparks and Audie Sparks; sisters, Hazel Reece, Edna Shook, Claudie Sparks and Selma Brown. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral services were held at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:00 PM.  The family received friends Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 2-6 P.M. at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
