Born on December 12, 1933, in Blairsville, Georgia, Genell was the daughter of Ila Mae Ash and Joe Ash and the 8th child of 9 siblings. She built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, faith, and service. She later settled in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
Genell attended Piedmont College, where she earned her teaching degree and began her career as a schoolteacher. She taught until she married the love of her life and forever husband, Roger Hal Gordon, and devoted herself wholeheartedly to building a loving family and home.
She was known for her happy spirit, strong will, and generous heart. A true go-getter, Genell lived with grace, purpose, and a deep love for the people around her. She found joy in traveling, cooking, sewing, shopping, and most of all, raising and caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always giving, always helping, and always making others feel cared for.
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. It guided her strength, kindness, and the way she loved others so deeply.
