Mrs. Mary Frances W. Collins, age 72 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on May 20, 2011 following a brief period of declining health. She was born to the late Nathan and Mary (Davis) White on May 03, 1939 in Pine Mountain, GA. She graduated from Harris Co. High School in Hamilton, GA in 1957. She received a B.A. degree in Home Economics from G.S.C.W. and a MBA from the University of Tennessee. Mary Frances was a high school Home Economics teacher in the Douglas County School System until she retired in 1996. Prior to teaching, Mary Frances was a Home Mgmt. Specialist with the Cooperative Extension Service, listed in Who's Who of American Women and a past President of the GA Vocational Association of Home Economics Educators. Mary Frances was a member of Hiawassee United Methodist Church and The Hiawassee Retired Teachers Association. She loved to travel and she and her husband had been all around the world. She is survived by her husband, William R. (Randall) Collins, of Hiawassee, GA, married since 1972, and living in Cobb County before relocating to Hiawassee, GA in 2003. She is also survived by her step-son, William R. Collins, Jr. and his wife and daughter. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 9:00AM from Hiawassee United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Blair, Rev. Hoyt Jenkins and Rev. Albert Escue officiating. Pallbearers were: L.G. Taylor, Leonard Sofield, Wendell Duncan, Roy McBride, W.H. Pelfrey and Jim Edgar. A Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 3:00PM from First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pine Mountain, GA. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
