Margie H Nicholson

Mrs. Margie Hedden Nicholson, age 99, of Hiawassee, GA passed away on January 07, 2011 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born to the late Carl and Pearl (Puett) Hedden on September 16, 1911 in Hiawassee, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Nicholson, sisters Euzella Hedden, Juanita Byrd and Jean Nichols, brothers, Carroll and James (Buddy) Hedden. Margie was an active member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church as long as her health permitted, having been a member for over 85 years. She was a lifelong resident of Hiawassee and Towns County, always a mother and homemaker. She is survived by sons, Lanier and wife Freddie Nicholson, William R. (Bill) and wife Mary Ann, daughter, Gail Royal, brothers, Henry, Robert (Bob) and Michael Hedden, six grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 08, 2011 at 2:30PM from McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Don Pickerill officiating. Music was provided by Patsy Daniel. Pallbearers were grandsons: William, David, John, Mark and Michael Nicholson and grand son-in-law, Tom Touchstone. Interment was in Osborn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Ray Nicholson Scholarship Fund or the Legacy (Building) fund at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 235, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
