Margaret Moore Holt Stewart, 88, of Young Harris, Georgia died after a brief illness on June 25, 2015.
Margaret was born on April 9, 1927 in Crossville, Tennessee to the late Ulys and Pearl Holt. She was married to the late William Thomas Stewart of Blytheville, Arkansas in 1946. Both their children, Margie Ann and Tommy were born in Blytheville. They moved to Cookeville, Tennessee where Bill taught chemistry and Margaret majored in Early Childhood Education at Tennessee Tech. In 1961 they moved to Young Harris where Bill taught chemistry and was head of the Science Department at Young Harris College. Margaret taught at Young Harris Elementary School.
Margaret's sweet and encouraging nature made her a most welcome presence to her family and friends. She delighted in their company. She loved to read, to bird watch and play games. She was a member of Sharp Memorial Methodist Church in Young Harris.
Her family includes her daughter, Margie Stewart of Durham, NC; her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Marva Kay Stewart of Lithonia, GA; three grandchildren: Amy Harrison, Bethany Wark and Blake Stewart; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Street and Andrew Wark, all of the Atlanta area.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Holt.
Pallbearers will be Blake Stewart, Ron Swann, Clay Dotson, Mark Dotson, Leon Lee, O.V. Lewis, Bud Dyer, Charles Adams, Colby Wark and Rich Harrison.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Mountain Regional Library in Young Harris. Visitation will be at noon on Saturday, June 26 in Fellowship Hall at Sharp Memorial Methodist Church, followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary and burial at Old Union Cemetery.
