Mrs. Loretta Jean Calhoun, age 81, formerly of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Saturday,
December 18, 2021 in Hiawassee, Georgia. Born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Irene
(Shipp) Johnson in Atlanta, Georgia on November 21, 1940, Loretta was a member of
WoodLand Hills Christian Church in Abingdon, Virginia. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to learn, earned her assistant chiropractic license, and took multiple classes at the local college. She was creative, and excelled at painting, gardening, decorating, and sewing. She is remembered as a beautiful, loving, caring woman with a wonderful sense of humor.
Loretta is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Roy Calhoun. She is
survived by two daughters, Janet Calhoun Moody (Dr. Willis E Moody), and Karen Calhoun
Pearce (Dr. Preston Pearce); grandchildren, William Moody, Melissa (Derek) Lane, Robert
Moody, Elizabeth Moody, David Pearce (Evangeline), Lauren Pearce, Jessica (Lenny) Pisano, and Andrew Pearce; great grandchild, Aiden Moody; and a host of extended family and friends.
Loretta's life was celebrated on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at her daughter’s home with
children and grandchildren in attendance.
