Jonnie Mae Irvin

Jonnie Mae Irvin, age 80, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. She was born to the late Mr and Mrs John F. and Eva (Green) Wheeler on March 28, 1943 in Hayesville, North Carolina. Jonnie loved sewing, something that seems to be becoming a lost art these days. She worked at Carolina Dress before moving to Gainesville where she worked at American Bedding for 30 years. In addition to sewing, she loved fishing and playing with the kids when they were little.

 

She is preceded in death by her above mentioned parents; brothers, Ellis Wheeler and Doyle Wheeler; sisters, Mary Lee Kelley, Dorthia Shook, Joyce Nations and Rita Wheeler; a daughter, Linda Moss; and a son Joseph Taylor Kennedy. She leaves behind daughters Glenda (Randy) Shook, Debbie (Robert) Chastain, and Teresa (Kenneth) McClure; brother, Terry (Hattie) Wheeler; grandchildren William Shook, Missy Lloyd, Vanessa Chastain, and Heath McClure; great grandchildren, William Brian, Christa, Dante, Ryker and Renley; one great great grandchild; and many friends and extended relatives.

 

Pallbearers: William Shook, Brian Shook, Richard Lloyd, Heath McClure, Kenneth McClure, Dante Chastain, and Robert Chastain.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ryker Lloyd, and Renley Lloyd.

 

Visitation: Saturday, April 15, 6-8pm, in the chapel of Banister-Cooper Funeral Home.

Funeral: Sunday, April 16, 2pm, in the chapel of Banister-Cooper Funeral Home with Jeremy Pearson officiating.

Burial: Following at Union Hill Cemetery in Hayesville, NC.
