John Henry Hitchcock


Mr. John Henry Hitchcock, age 71 of Hiawassee, GA passed away on  Wednesday, October 30, 2013 following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Webb. He was born to the late Roy and Evelyn (Adams) Hitchcock on May 29, 1942 in Covington, GA. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Cook) Hitchcock, of Hiawassee, GA; one sister, Kathy Jones, of TN; one sister-in-law, Norma Ivey, of Young Harris, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was a member of Towns County Lions Club, Helen Presbyterian Church, Treasurer of the ACS. He was very active in the Northeast GA Presbytery and also a member of the Porterdale Presbyterian Church in Newton County. Funeral services locally were held on Friday, November 01, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home with Rev. Blant Ferguson and Rev. Roe Callaway officiating, and services were held in Covington, GA, on Saturday, November 02, 2013 at 2:00PM from the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Sims and Rev. Joan Stevens officiating. Interment was in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington, GA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations and contributions be made to: Towns County Lions Club, Give-A-Christmas Program, P.O. Box 574, Hiawassee, GA 30546 or Thornwell Home for Children, 302 South Broad, Clinton, SC 29325. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
