James "Bobby" Kirby

James "Bobby" Kirby, age 76, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 at his home after an extended illness. Bobby was born in Clayton, Georgia on June 14, 1947 to the late Gordon and Cora (Wood) Kirby. 

Bobby worked 21 years with Patterson and Dewar and serving Towns county for 34 years surveying land. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and also grafting his apple trees. He loved singing and picking his guitar with his family and the last couple of years playing at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warne Kirby, Frank Kirby; sisters, Lulabelle Kirby, Velza Barrett. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Ledford) Kirby; daughter, Melissa(Scotty)Bradley; son, Steven(Amy)Kirby; brother, Gordon(Lucy)Kirby Jr.; sisters, Ann Franks, Marie Gregory; grandchildren, Dustin Bradley, Dalton Bradley, Leah Bradley, Cale Kirby; great-grandchildren, Bristal Towe, Oaklyn Bradley and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Sunday, July 2, 2023 1:00-3:00pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 3:00pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Jarrard officiating. Interment will follow at Enotah cemetery.

Pallbearers: Dustin Bradley, Dalton Bradley, Cale Kirby, Brandon Barrett, Bradley Barrett, Adam Barrett, Tyler Barrett, Jonathan Barrett, Nicholas Barrett and Alex Giles.
