Geneva Dayton Dills, age 98, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Geneva was born June 2, 1918 to Samuel and Rosena (Eller) Dayton, she was one of eight children. Her siblings were Cline Dayton, D.B. Dayton, Birdie Dayton, Dorabell Moreland, Addie Arrowood, Etna Burrell and Maggie Lochaby. Geneva’s first marriage was in 1932 to Rob Hooper. They had one daughter, Lavonda Hooper Paulk. In 1940 she married Grady Anderson and became a mother to four boys living in the Church of God orphanage, Hoke Anderson, Brownlow Anderson, Emmett Anderson and Joe Anderson. They had two more children, Maggie Sue and Sammy. Sammy passed away at six weeks old. Geneva was widowed in 1960. In 1973, Geneva and Lester Dills were married.
Geneva felt the call of God to evangelize so she enrolled in a correspondence course through the Church of God. She was ordained in June of 1963. Geneva walked or drove an old car to 18 churches in the Oconee District for 3-4 years. She also worked at the shirt factory for her lovely lady boss, Mary Street. In March of 1965, she attended the Clarkesville Trade School and worked as a teachers aide for 12 years at the Towns County Elementary School. She owned and operated a fabric store for a number of years. She spent 86 years serving her Lord. Geneva loved all people and only heaven has recorded how many people she led to the Lord.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husbands, Rob Hooper, Grady Anderson and Lester Dills; one son, Sammy Anderson and one granddaughter, Glenda Bass. She is survived by her children, Lavonda Paulk, Sue Mullinex and Joe Anderson; grandchildren, Richard Method, Michelle Pugh and husband, David, Gary Eller and wife, Debbie, Donna Johnson and husband, Chuck, Sherri Canterbury; great grandchildren Tiffany McCall, Daphne McCall, Wren Sago, Raine Boyd, Demi Love and husband, Josh, Jaden Johnson, Michael Gouff, Megan King, Dakota King, Madison King, Devin Pugh and Makenzie Pugh; 7 great great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation: Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at North Mt. Zion Church of God
Memorial Service: Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at North Mt Zion Church of God with Bishop Raburne Wilson officiating.
Interment: Following the service.
