Ethel Dell Martin, age 97, of Hiawassee, GA passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2015. She was born to the late James and Anita (Gartner) Greenlee on November 11, 1917. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. Known to most in our community as “Aunt Dell” and widely known and loved for her quick wit and loving and generous ways, she will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Alameda since the late 1940’s and moved to Hiawassee in 2012. She has been attending North Mt. Zion Church of God and Christ the King Church both of Hiawassee. She was married to the love of her life Raymond Martin for 41 years before he passed away in 2000. They were both very active , they loved to square dance, golf, go cruising and train travel. They took many vacations over the years traveling across the United States via the various old railroad lines, from north to south, and west to east. She was an avid knitter, crafter and reader. Aunt Dell was a strong supporter and benefactor of Meals on Wheels in Alameda, CA and of House of Manna at North Mt. Zion Church of God in Hiawassee, GA and many other charitable organizations throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her brother Claude Gartner Greenlee. Although she never had any children of her own, she is survived by many nieces and nephews; Sally & Joe Varao of Hiawassee, Georgia, Peggy Clabaugh of Hiawassee, Georgia, Beth & Richie McIver of Moorepark, California, Dianna & Daniel Soong of Kalaheo, Hawaii, Barbara & Fred Marshall of Sandy, Oregon and Cora & Roger Haltry of Eagle Creek, Oregon; many great and great-great nieces and nephews and special friend and care giver Connie Clark. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Banister Funeral Home in Hiawassee, GA on Sunday, February 22nd.  Visitation beginning at 2:00 pm and Memorial at 3:00 pm In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund at Christ the King Church, P.O.Box 285, Hiawassee, GA 30546 or House of Manna at North Mt. Zion Church of God, P. O. Box 62, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
