Mrs. Elba Nichols Wilson, age 90 passed away peacefully on November 03, 2012, at Emeritus at South Park, Charlotte, NC. She was born to the late Presley P. and Cora (Bowen) Nichols on October 13, 1922 in Towns County, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost seventy years, Frank Wilson and five siblings, Horace, Eula Mae, Buford, Haralson and Barbara. She is survived by children Virginia W. Campbell and W. Neil Wilson; one sister, Ruby N. Nicholson; one brother, David Forest Nichols; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Although Elba and Frank moved to Gainesville, GA in 1948, Elba never lost her love for the mountains and people of Hiawassee and Towns County. In recent years as she struggled with Alzheimers, her references to home always meant Towns County.
Funeral services for Elba Wilson will be held from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations and contributions be made to Alzheimers Association Georgia, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346, or a charity of your choice. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee in charge of arrangements.
