Edward Lavern Dedmon

Edward Lavern Dedmon, age 93, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on October 25, 1932, to the late Eppy and Cecil (Crump) Dedmon. Edward met his wife, JoAnn, when they were just 18 while both were working overseas, and they were married for 73 years. Edward was a US Air Force and National Guard veteran, who served during the Korean War. He worked as a Law Enforcement Officer for 46 years serving both the Tampa and Manatee area. Edward was a good-hearted man of god, and long-time member of North Mt. Zion Church of God. He was described as a pleasant spirit, who was easy to talk to. He was an avid hunter, and loved to practice his sharp-shooting skills. He loved his wife and family dearly, and he will be deeply missed.

Edward is survived by his wife, JoAnn; son, Eddie (Patti) Dedmon; daughter, Vicki Gurganus; brother, Robert Dedmon; grandchildren, April Turner, David Prater, Jason Prater, Zackary Gurganus.
