Christopher Michael Cornett

Christopher Michael Cornett, 42, passed away on August 30, 2025 in Hiawassee, GA. Born on November 3, 1982, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, Chris was the youngest of four siblings in the Cornett family. Chris spent his early life in Marietta, Georgia, where he attended Hickory Hills Elementary School, Marietta Middle School and Marietta High School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marietta. An academic achiever and athlete, Chris played on the high school football team and graduated in 2001.

Following high school, Chris attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a degree in Computer Engineering. His time at Georgia Tech was marked by academic excellence, as he consistently made the Dean's List, graduating in June 2006. Chris also participated in the cooperative program with Virtucom, where he gained valuable experience in educational technology.

After graduation, Chris began his professional career at Equifax Inc., where he excelled as a product manager. His work took him to Toronto, Canada, where he served as a project manager and business consultant in Technology and Information Delivery Services, marking a significant milestone in both his career and personal life. During his time in Canada, Chris discovered a passion for improv theater with the renowned Second City, showcasing his talent and creativity to family and friends.

Later, Chris transitioned to Salesforce, where he served as a Senior Product Manager. He thrived in this innovative environment, collaborating with talented team members and contributing to cutting-edge projects. Chris lived in Midtown Atlanta until February 2020, when he moved to Hiawassee, Georgia, during the COVID-19 pandemic. There, he spent cherished time with his parents and grandfather, embracing the quiet beauty of the mountains.

Chris is survived by his parents, Danny Eugene Cornett and Elizabeth Jane Dosser Cornett, and his siblings: Benjamin David Cornett (Tonya), Robert Alexander Cornett (Mallory), and Kelly Elizabeth Cornett Homlar (Robert). Nieces: Ansley Cornett, Caroline, Claire, and Mary Margaret Homlar; Nephew Trent Cornett and his beloved dog, Zelda.

Chris will be remembered for his intelligence, creativity, and the joy he brought to those around him. He possessed a unique ability to connect with others, leaving a lasting impact on both family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Marietta First United Methodist Church.
