Buford Burch

Buford Burch, age 92, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 26, 2026

A lifelong resident of Hiawassee, Buford lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, service, and love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, honoring his nation with dedication and integrity. Above all, he was known as a godly and upright man who lived with honesty, strength, and quiet humility.

Buford was a devoted father who was always there when needed. He was known for answering every call, offering steady guidance, and leading by example. He instilled in his family the values of hard work, respect, and faith in God, leaving behind a legacy that will continue for generations.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ruth Lovingood Burch; his brother, Rex Burch; and his parents, Paul Burch and Azilee Shook Burch.

He is survived by his loving children, Schicketha Burch Brown and John Burch; his cherished granddaughters, Courtney Leigh Roy Williams, Sarah Burch Orlowski, Laura Burch, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. One of his greatest joys was his great-grandson, Thomas Orlowski , whom he was blessed to know and love.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Buford passed peacefully and lived a life full of purpose and blessing. They give thanks to the Lord for the many years they were blessed to have with him and for the peace he now rests in.
