Beulah "Mema" Holmes Brown, age 101, of Hiawassee, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024. Beulah was born on November 26, 1922, at home in Hope County, NC. Beulah was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Beulah grew up in the Red Springs, NC area and spent most of her adult life there. She married Milton L.

Brown and they raised their son Milton "Randy" Brown there. She lost her husband in 1991, but stayed in Red Springs, and was an active member of her church and her bridge club until age 84. Beulah decided to move to Atlanta, GA in 2008 to be closer to family. She was in an active adult community for 10 years until she moved to Hiawasssee, GA in an assisted living home to be near her son. She was a resident of Brasstown Manor from 2018 until 2024 where she was well liked and she reached the age of 101.

Beulah was known for her love of people and her passion for bridge and bingo. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, especially her 3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing bridge and later found joy in bingo games. Beulah's 100* birthday party with her entire family was a highlight for her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Will Holmes, mother, Lyda Quick Holmes, spouse Milton Livingston Brown, 3 brothers, and two sisters. Beulah is survived by her son, Randy Brown and his spouse Lorraine Brown, granddaughter Jennifer Brown Chin and spouse, Justin, grandson, Nathan Balmes and spouse, Kelly and Alexander Balmes and spouse, Jill, and her great-grandchildren.

Beulah was a dedicated housewife and a member of the Red Springs First Presbyterian Church. She spent her free time gardening, line dancing with the Live Wires, and playing bridge.

No immediate service is planned, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bannister-Cooper Funeral Home in Hiawassee, Georgia, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
