Betty R. Jenkins

Mrs. Betty B. Jenkins, age 88, of Young Harris, Georgia passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 after a brief illness. Betty was born on May 28, 1932 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Blake and Elma (Jackson) Bryson in Young Harris, Georgia. She was a member of Old Union Baptist Church. After high school Betty went to Young Harris College and then to North Georgia College for a degree in education. She then taught at Towns County Elementary School for over 30 years before retiring. Betty was not content with retiring completely so she worked at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds for a number of years. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling; she and her husband Jerry visited forty-nine states and 7 Canadian provinces all in their motor home. Mrs. Betty also loved all things involving Young Harris College but especially sports and was well known for being able to hit a softball with a bat more then the average person. Overall Betty loved life, her husband, children and grandchildren. 
Betty is proceeded in death by her above mentioned parents; brother, Bill Bryson and sister, June Rushton. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jerry Jenkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Vicki Jenkins, and Tracy and Ingrid Jenkins; daughter and son-in-law, Gene and Tammy Coker; along with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside Service: Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Old Union Baptist Church at 1:00P at Old Union Cemetery following service. 
Pallbearers: Dustin and Ethan Burch, Gary Berrong, Gene Coker, Eddie and Luke Rushton.
