Barbara Nell McConnell

Barbara Nell McConnell, age 84, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 20th 2016. Barbara was born on January 03,1932 to the late Charles Taft and Emma Clyde (McClure) Burch in Hiawassee, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Willis Paul McConnell; brother, Norman Burch and sister, Elizabeth Marshall. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Dan Duvall, Diana & Steven Lewis, Mary & Wayne Burch, Billie McConnell; son and daughter-in-law, Terry & Sherri McConnell; sister and brother-in-law, Rita & James Hooper; brother-in-law, Ralph Marshall; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Barbara was a member of Union Hill Methodist Church. She loved canning, sewing, reading and listening to preachers on television. She was the most loving mother anyone could have. The family received friends at Banister Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from the chapel of Banister Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Rev. Glenn Eller and Rev. Steven Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Burch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Timothy Barrett, Jonathan Barrett, Brett Lynch, Kevin McConnell, Nick Shook, and Donovan Duvall. Music was provided by Ryan Wilson and Emily Gerdes. Banister Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
